Murrumbidgee River and beaches

Ariel shot of boat on Murrumbidgee River

Fishing and boating

Fishing enthusiasts will find plenty to enjoy along the river beaches surrounding the township, with excellent spots for both relaxation and sport.

Winter is Murray crayfish season and a great time to head to the river. If you plant to fish in the Murrumbidgee River, you are required by law to pay the NSW Recreational Fishing Fee and carry proof of payment with you. The fee can be paid at the Gum View Café, by phoning 1300 550 474 or online. You can grab some live bait from the Davis Supermarket (10 Bridge Street, Darlington Point).

There are two boat ramps:

  • North boat ramp - located on Kidman Way, via same entrance as the Darlington Point Riverside Caravan Park. Facilities include boat and trailer parking
  • South boat ramp and pontoon - accessible via Cemetery Road, also with boat and trailer parking.

The river can be accessed both upstream and downstream, and the town beach adjacent to the caravan park provides easy entry for boating, canoeing and fresh water fishing.
